UK’s first Gerneration 8 PR 766

Liebherr Rental is thrilled to have recently taken delivery of the UK’s very first Generation 8 PR 766 bulldozer. In response to customer demand for both current and future projects as well as some new customer enquiries, the company placed an order for two of these machines.

The first one has already gone straight out to work for a valued, longstanding customer in a sand and gravel quarry. Both machines will be to the same specification of 610mm pads, 13.6m3 capacity Semi-U blade, single shank ripper, 360 camera, Stage V engine producing 422hp rated power (net). Total weight of each machine is a hefty 53,460kg.

Rental Contracts Manager, Gareth Blythin, explains more about the company’s decision to invest in these machines. ‘Liebherr Rental previously ran five PR 764’s in the early 2010’s but the demise of the UK coal sector resulted in a decline in the demand for these sizable dozers. However, we have seen a gradual increase in customer enquiries for this class size over the last 12 to 18 months and taking into account existing and upcoming projects, we took the decision to order two of the new Generation 8 PR 766’s for 2022. This is a brand-new model and meets the latest Stage V emission regulations and, as with all Liebherr dozers, has hydrostatic drive providing excellent performance and fuel efficiency.’

The machine’s lucky maiden operator is the vastly experienced Stuart Kahler who has operated large dozers for a number of years. Stuart is extremely impressed with the performance of the machine: ‘I have driven several other 50t class dozers by other manufacturers and the Liebherr PR 766 easily out rips and out pushes every one of them. I have worked with this size machine in this quarry for many years now and this is by far and away the best dozer I have driven in this application.’
